World Blood Donor Day

Today is World Blood Donor day. My daughter would not stay alive without blood donors. Thank you.

Causes

Two causes are especially important to me.

Awareness of and finding a cure for Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a serious blood disease my little daughter suffers from. This is a very rare disease and consequently there is far too little research. The Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation and The Daniella Maria Arturi Foundation support DBA research.

Prematurity. Because of her disease and to save her life, my daughter was taken by an emergency C-section more than three months prematurely and weighing just over a pound. March of Dimes support prematurity research and families of preemies.
